Wakefield Beach on the Sunshine Coast in BC, Canada, is located in one of the world's greatest outdoor playgrounds- an eco paradise for an extensive list of outdoor activities, and we are centrally located to all of them! We are also just a few minutes away from Sechelt's many restaurants, cozy cafes, quaint shops, antique stores, local artisans, museums and art galleries. Whatever fills your day, know that you can come home to Wakefield and enjoy a soak in our hottub with an unobstructed view of the ocean.

The Sunshine Coast lives up to its name with as many as 2,400 hours of sunshine per year. Bright days outnumber gloomy ones by a wide margin because the mountains of Vancouver Island catch much of the rain coming in off the Pacific.

The mildest climate in BC allows you plenty of time to enjoy the plethora of outdoor activities. No matter the time of year you visit, there are plenty of activities to please everyone in the family.

With over 86kms of coastline stretching along the furthest Western Canadian continental coastline, there is a LOT to explore.

We would highly recommend the Skookumchuck Rapids. Here the Sechelt Inlet meets the Jervis Inlet, and as 200 billion gallons of water flows through this narrow passage, a three meter wave is created during maximum tide. Watch experience trick kayakers literally "surf" the wave or if you are lucky you may see sea lions playing in the tidal currents.

The quiet beauty of winter also brings many outdoor opportunities. For those wishing to snowshoe or cross country ski, we also recommend Dakota Ridge which boasts 12 km of groomed cross country ski trails, for all skill levels.
